What’s Included in a Probate Valuation?
At London Auctions, we operate according to HMRC’s guidelines for probate valuations (Inheritance Tax Act 1984, Section 160). This means that we take into account the entire contents of the estate, including chattels, antique items, art and collectibles, coins and banknotes, and motor vehicles.
During our visit, our experienced probate team records the necessary photos and makes a written report of all applicable items. We then compile the evidence and conduct research to provide you with a true valuation of the estate.

If you like, we can forward our findings to the estate executor or solicitors (if applicable). We keep both hard copies and digital copies for your convenience.
The valuation process can be complex, but our team will make it as straightforward as possible for you. We understand that this is likely to be a difficult time for you, and we’ll do everything we can to help.
If you prefer, we can connect you with private dealers and auction houses. Or we can even purchase some items from you directly or offset our services for them.
We know it can be challenging trying to price probate items appropriately, so we can assist you with that, as well.
