Probate Valuation

As Auctioneers in London & Surrey we regularly conduct Probate Valuations on behalf of Executors.

A Probate valuation service is often required by executors of estates. It ensures that an accurate value is put on the contents and chattels of an estate. Goods included which will form part of the valuation ; antiques, art, jewellery, classic & modern cars, watches and more. This is a requirement by HMRC in order to calculate inheritance tax liabilities. Your solicitor or chosen legal professional will be able to advise you if this is necessary in your circumstances.

At London Auctions we offer an expert professional Probate Valuation Service in London and Surrey. Our experience as auctioneers mean we are up to date with current market trends. This ensure that goods are valued accurately. We hold full professional indemnity insurance. The type of goods that are usually included by us in probate valuations include:

  • Antiques
  • Art
  • Jewellery, Watches and Silver Items
  • Vehicles including Classic and Modern Cars & Motorcycles
  • Mid Century Furniture
  • Collectables
  • Toy Collections
  • Plus, Much More

A Probate Valuation usually consists of an initial visit to the property where one of our specialists will have a thorough look throughout the property. Notes will be made and photographs taken of any items identified as having a saleable value at public auction. We will then go away and compile a report which will be produced in a simple format ready to be forwarded on to your solicitor or legal professional. They can then use the information in this report to calculate any liabilities.

Any goods identified during a probate valuation can be entered into one of our auctions for sale if required. We also offer a House Clearance Service once any items of value have been removed from the property.

Why Is it necessary to get the contents of a property valued?

If you don’t get a valuation of contents for probate purposes then there is a possibility you may end up overpaying or underpaying inheritance tax.

London Auctions are expert probate valuers in London, we have strong knowledge of current trends within the auction world and can ensure that valuations are accurate and reliable.
