Trusted XRF Analysis Services for Precious Metals and Jewellery — Fast, Reliable, and Expertly Delivered.
Our XRF testing service is perfect for solicitors, probate professionals, private sellers, collectors, and traders needing fast, accurate metal analysis.
XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) analysis is a scientific method used to determine the exact metal content of an item, without damaging it.
A safe, low-energy X-ray beam is directed at the piece, causing the elements inside (such as gold, silver, platinum, etc.) to emit their own unique “fluorescence” or signature.
The XRF machine reads this response instantly, allowing us to accurately identify and quantify the materials present. A report can then be printed detailing the exact makeup of the item/material.
Because it is non-invasive, fast, and highly accurate, XRF is trusted worldwide for precious metal testing and jewellery analysis.
Why Choose XRF Analysis?
•Accurate and Non-Destructive:
XRF analysis identifies the precise metal composition without damaging or marking the item.
•Quick Turnaround:
Receive results on the spot or within a short timeframe.
•Trusted by Experts:
We use the market-leading Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 Analyser, giving you peace of mind that each test is conducted with high precision and accuracy.
XRF Testing for Probate Purposes
We offer an enhanced XRF analysis service alongside of our standard Probate Valuation Services. When handling probate and estate matters, providing accurate valuations of jewellery and precious metals is essential. XRF analysis offers a fast, non-invasive way to determine the exact metal content, ensuring fair and transparent valuations for inheritance, estate division, and legal documentation. Using this method, solicitors and executors can confidently support their probate assessments with scientifically verified results.
How XRF Testing is Conducted
Our XRF analysis is quick, non-invasive, and completely mobile. Testing can be carried out at our premises or offsite at a location of your choice by prior arrangement. For added convenience, we also accept items by post — securely package your items, and we will test them promptly upon arrival. We will then return your items and issue you with a a digital or printed report.
Please note: Appointments are required for in-person testing to ensure availability and careful handling of your items.
When sending valuables by post, we recommend using a fully insured and trackable postal service like Royal Mail Special Delivery for your peace of mind.
Why Choose XRF Analysis over Traditional Testing Methods?
Unlike traditional acid testing — which is invasive, less precise, and can potentially damage items — XRF analysis is completely non-destructive and provides an immediate, highly accurate breakdown of the metal composition. It also enables us to issue an item specific report with a full breakdown of the composition of each item.
While hallmarks are a useful guide, not all items are hallmarked, especially antique, imported, or custom-made pieces. Even when hallmarks are present, they can sometimes be worn, altered, or not fully representative of the true metal content. XRF testing removes any doubt, offering scientific confirmation regardless of marking.
How much does XRF Analysis Cost?
We offer straightforward and competitive pricing for our XRF testing services. Depending on the service required, charges may apply for offsite visits, postal testing, or written certification reports. We are happy to provide a clear quotation in advance—simply contact us with your requirements.
Our goal is to offer a transparent, reliable service with no hidden fees.
Please note: XRF testing is automatically included as part of our Enhanced Jewellery Valuation Package for Probate Purposes
