Valuation Days

Drop in Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, or come along to one of our valuation mornings every other Saturday. Free, no-obligation valuations with no appointment needed — just bring your items and one of the team will assess them on the spot.

What happens on the day

Walk in, meet the team, get an honest answer

Our valuation days are a relaxed, informal opportunity to find out what your items are worth. There’s no pressure, no commitment and no charge — just bring your items in and one of the team will give you an honest assessment on the spot.

If you’re happy with the estimate and want to proceed to auction, we can get your items entered into an upcoming sale on the same day. We’ll take your details, issue a receipt and let you know the result.

Making the Most of Your Visit

What to bring and how to prepare

01

The items themselves

Bring the physical items where possible. For large pieces of furniture or collections, good photographs on your phone are fine as a starting point.

02

Any paperwork you have

Receipts, certificates, old valuations or auction records all help. Don’t worry if you have nothing — most items can be assessed without documentation.

03

Photos for large items

Can’t bring it in? Clear photographs — ideally in natural light, showing any marks or damage — are usually enough for an initial estimate.

04

Nothing else required

No appointment, no booking, no paperwork needed to attend. Just walk in during opening hours and our team will be ready to help.

Frequently Asked

Everything you need to know

Is a valuation really free?

Yes, completely. We don’t charge for valuations carried out at our saleroom. The only exception is a formal Probate Valuation, which requires a home visit and a written HMRC-compliant report — please get in touch separately for that service.

Do I need to book an appointment?

No appointment is needed. Just walk in Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm, or come along to one of our valuation mornings every other Saturday. If you have a large collection, it’s worth calling ahead so we can make sure the right member of the team is available.

Can you value items from photographs?

Yes — we can often give a reliable initial estimate from photographs sent by WhatsApp or email. We’ll let you know if we need to see the item in person, which is sometimes necessary for jewellery, watches and artwork.

What if I want to sell after the valuation?

If you’re happy with the estimate, we can enter your items into an upcoming sale on the same day. We’ll take your contact details and payment information, issue a receipt, and keep you updated before and after the auction. Payment is usually made within 21 days of the sale.

Do you have parking?

Yes — we have free parking on site at Clyde Works. On the rare occasion it’s full, street parking is available on Clyde Road. Give us a call when you arrive and we’ll come and help carry your items in.

I have a large collection. What do you recommend?

Call us ahead of your visit to discuss. You’re welcome to bring a large collection in, but for very large quantities we may suggest a home visit instead, which saves you the effort of transporting everything. We can also assist with transport to our saleroom if needed.

Is there anything you don't take?

We are unable to accept beds and mattresses, modern furniture and sofas, white goods, general household goods, or low-end modern items. Electrical goods are only accepted if they are of good quality and PAT tested, or of collector’s value. If you are not sure, send us a photo and we will tell you.
