Auction Valuations

What is an auction valuation?

A free estimate from our team of what your items could sell for

An auction valuation is a free, no-obligation assessment of what your items are likely to achieve at one of our monthly sales. Our team consider comparable recent results, current market demand and condition to give you an honest, realistic estimate.

We accept everything from single items to full house contents — antiques, jewellery, vintage toys, collectables, silver and more. If auction isn’t the right route, we’ll tell you honestly and suggest the best alternative.

Frequently Asked

Common questions about auction valuations

Is an auction valuation free?

Yes. Auction estimates are always free and there is no obligation to sell with us afterwards.

How do I get a valuation?

Drop in to our Wallington saleroom Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, or come along to one of our valuation mornings every other Saturday. You can also send photos on WhatsApp, use the online form on this page, or email [email protected].

What should I send with my photos?

Clear photos of the front, back and any marks, signatures, labels or hallmarks, plus the dimensions and a note on condition. Any history, receipts, boxes or papers you have are worth mentioning too.

How quickly will I hear back?

WhatsApp is usually the fastest route. Online requests are reviewed and answered within five working days.

Is an auction estimate the same as a probate valuation?

No. An auction estimate is a free guide to what an item is likely to sell for in our sales. If you need a formal written valuation for probate or estate purposes, see our Probate Valuations service.

Can you value a whole house or a large collection?

Yes. For larger collections we can visit you at home across London and Surrey. Get in touch and we will arrange a convenient time.

How do you decide on estimates and reserves?

Our estimates are based on current market demand and the results we see in our own monthly sales. We will suggest sensible estimates and reserves, and always welcome your input.

Is there anything you don't accept?

We are unable to accept beds and mattresses, modern furniture and sofas, white goods, general household goods, or low-end modern items. If you are not sure, send us a photo and we will tell you.
